An iconic design-build renovation at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar
The Military Engineer magazine has and about the renovations at the iconic Miramar Officers' Club in California. The Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) Club retrofit is a classic example of the application of design-build principles to overcome unforeseen conditions encountered during the course of construction.
This complex, multi-phased retrofit included new entry, conference room, bars and ballroom. The flexibility of integrated design-build delivery enabled Â鶹Éç to seamlessly develop solutions to overcome unforeseen conditions, uncovered during demolition, that were the result of previous renovations to this Marine Corps Air Station facility.

In addition, the Â鶹Éç team's attention to quality control was outstanding. Not only did the team set the bar high, but it was a true team effort, from the superintendent all the way up to Â鶹Éç's vice president of design and vice president of construction, both of whom made trips to the island to ensure everything was running smoothly at the site.
In addition, it was reassuring to see that Â鶹Éç's quality control plan is personalized for each project — it isn't boilerplate or off the shelf. It reflects what the specific project requirements are. Â鶹Éç took full responsibility for quality control for all of its subcontractors. It was clear that Â鶹Éç's philosophy is that its subcontractors are part of the team, and that the owner shouldn't have to deal with several different entities.
Most importantly, the Â鶹Éç team was dedicated to meeting and even exceeding the high-quality standards set forth at the beginning of the project. There was no question or discussion — it was a given that Â鶹Éç stands behind its work and will do whatever it takes to ensure a quality product.
Â鶹Éç's leadership has the expertise and understanding necessary to advise you, even on the most complex challenges.
